Cold but new UB Boy now trusts the icy path to his past. He finds himself amongst his friends again in a time his family was a safe place to bloom in and explore. That place had a radius that matched UB Child’s comprehension.
Now, what is better than day dreaming? Trust yourself to have a good night’s sleep and dream and dream and, wow, get lost in a dream. After several fake exits, UB Boy is lucky to find the right door to step in his empty but trusted grandparental home again.
And again something tries to fool UB Boy in his own dreams. Is it an ancient voice that whispers key messages in his dreaming ears. Should he write those down?
After these three intriguing dreams where UB Boy gets lost in his past, he moves himself over to the stove. But it doesn’t work. Who can fire up this place? Anyone..?
And there she is again. Deluciana. Now she can fire up a place! Oh no, UB Boy starts dripping deep hot red. How can he hold her hand as her brother anyway?! As she makes the snow evaporate in an instant!
And then there comes Joe. Just happily riding his bicycle. With no intentions at all this guy smoothly speeds up to the Universe’s speed limit. Or is this the normal speed and is everything slower the result of unnecessary burden.
UB Boy would like to mind-meld with his playful friend Deluciana. Of course this is no 23rd century Star Trek episode, so he blows all his life into a mouthorgan and hands it over. Deluciana doesn’t know how the instrument works and overlooks that she can blow AND draw…
Climbing, still climbing, for years moving up now. That reminds UB Boy of the well known boardinghouse in The Hague. The last elevator was not meant for customers to take. And why is that so?!
Deluciana is not the way out. Kill your darlings. But UB Boy can’t kill his darling girl. So he comes after himself..! This is when people come to self-mutilation. Oops.
For years now UB Boy tries to find the exit out of this painful situation. But he sees himself moving in circles as the reflections in the glass follow him wherever he goes. Can’t he just break the glass?
Why sing of Hope & Glory? Songs don’t change UB Boy’s World. They tell about stories already gone and don’t pave the path ahead. If true then this will be UB Boy’s last song.
So let’s sing about stories long gone then. Like this moment in young UB’s Life. He had this picture of a concrete factory alongside a canal near the village of Overschie. So he takes his bicycle and rides to where it should be. And D**n, there it is. Saved until this day to be sung.
Another unfinished business then, let’s finish this journey. It started in UB’s new room at his grandmother’s, remember?! He smoked a cigarette with his beautiful cousin to celebrate he made it all the way to September. And Colours came from East.
Now UB Boy gets the hang of it. In a dream he detects a warm brick cemented deep in his construction. It is his punk girl..! All these years loyal by his side. Even lying next to him UB Boy has to detect her...
Okay, so if all UB Boy expresses has no effect on his path, you tell him what to play! Tell him who he is and especially WHERE the hack he is.
Sitting on a dune-top UB Boy realizes that his home town is a thin layer on top of this land. So all this time he found himself in nature..! And yes, he now hears some ancient tune. Like a spider thread carried by the wind.
The strangest thing happens. With every step UB Boy takes, he sinks deeper in the pavement. In the dunes underneath this sedate suburb. He loses control of where he is. The streetname tells him exactly where, but it makes no sense. Wow, is it this some kind of location crisis?
UB Boy feels a pure and clean anger in his body, for it doesn’t seem to relate to some incident. It doesn’t feel bad though.
And now UB wants to walk away from home, from his mother. But he left his parental home years ago?! Where do you wanna go to UB Boy?
